THE EUPSYCHIA PHILOSOPHY....
Eupsychia is a new paradigm psychospiritual educational institute founded
by Jacquelyn Small, LMSW in
1975. The word "Eupsychia," coined by Abraham Maslow, means
happy psyche. Eupsychia's philosophy and methods are based in transpersonal
or spiritual psychology that defines the Self as both a human ego and
a spiritual soul.
Eupsychia's philosophy is based in a synthesis of various schools of
psychology, aspects of the ancient wisdom found in the perennial philosophy
of the Western Mystery Traditions, and Jungian psychology. It tracks
perfectly with the 12 Step philosophy of Alcoholics Anonymous, and is
compatible with the newer sciences of quantum/relativistic physics, systems
biology, holographic brain research, and integrative medicine. The language
of the Eupsychia Process can be modified to fit with any form of psychological
or spiritual orientation. The Eupsychia Process is an evolutionary psychology.
Because Eupsychia defines the Self as both a human personality and a
spiritual soul, its experiential methods provide both mental/emotional
healing of the psyche and spiritual awakening to one's true and whole
identity. This training helps you learn to recognize, emphasize, and
empower the true Self who lives at the core of our being. Our methods
of application are exceptionally transformational. This training model
teaches its practitioners to work with the subjective life in non-ordinary
states of consciousness and how to incorporate the integrating insights
into one's life. To be a leader of this work, one must become it.
THE PROGRAM'S
REQUIREMENTS
This is a 2-year training program. However, students may choose to
come at their own pace. To become a formal student, you will pay the
workshop fee for each required workshop, plus a one time $50.00 filing
fee. There is no additional cost for certification. Academic degrees
are not required for this certification, but might aid a student in developing
a psychospiritual therapy practice.
To become a leader in this type of work, a healthy psyche and adequate
healing of one's past issues is an integral part of this training. Therefore,
new trainees are guided through their own healing work experientially
along with the participants who attend our workshops for healing. As
their healing progresses, trainees are supervised in guiding others through
these transformational processes.
Required of each student:
Attendance at two 6-day healing programs, and 4 Eupsychia
Integrative Breathwork weekend workshops. Certification students
will remain on Mondays after these weekend workshops for teaching
with Jacquelyn. Karen Finley Breeding's Saturday breathwork workshops
in Austin also count toward certification. Jacquelyn includes
a Friday
day-long teaching
for Eupsychia students preceding Karen's workshop. Most weekend
workshops take place in Austin. The 6-day programs are held
at our
retreat setting
in Dahlonega, Georgia. Every student is evaluated individually
to determine how much training is needed to fulfill these training
obligations.
After
the requirements are met, if our staff decides that you are
ready for certification, your graduation will occur at the second
6-day program
you attend. All students will be considered interns in this
program
as
the training is mostly hands-on, with the following training components:
- "Working the floor" and getting staff feedback in
two weekend workshops and in one 6-day program. In the other
required
programs,
students
will breathe and work on themselves as participants
- Reading required: Four
books by Jacquelyn Small: Becoming
Naturally Therapeutic; Transformers; Awakening
in Time; and The
Sacred Purpose of Being Human.
- Co-facilitate one workshop group
process session
- Conduct one practice Breathwork session with friends
or interested participants. Four to eight participants will be
sufficient.
- Prepare one music set for Jacquelyn's approval, indicating that
you know how to set up the trajectory for the breathwork musical
journey
- Utilize mentoring with Jacquelyn and the Eupsychia staff by telephone
or email as needed.
Graduation ceremonies occur on the final day of a 6-day healing program.
This graduation occurs by invitation only. If either you, or the staff,
feel that you need more time to complete, we will decide together on
an alternative plan.

METHODS OF TRANSFORMATION USED
IN THE EUPSYCHIA PROCESS Our most powerful
and effective psychic opener and healer is the Integrative Breathwork,
surrounded by psychospiritual group work and other processes that help
integrate one's powerful inner work. The Integrative Breathwork process
expands us beyond the ego's physical, emotional, and mental states into
the wider realms of all seven levels of consciousness known as the human
chakra system. This entire world of the human/divine psyche is explained
in depth in Jacquelyn's book, Transformers, and in the various components
taught during this training. Following are listed the methods
used in this training: Interns are supervised by our staff while working
the floor in Integrative Breathwork sessions, and given feedback following
each session. The other methods are taught through didactic and experiential
sessions.
Integrative Breathwork. Certification as an Integrative Breathwork Practitioner
means you have learned both the theoretical philosophy and the application
of this powerful method of inner work. These sessions are done in two
hours of deep breathing to evocative music that puts participants into
a safe and intensely aware altered state. Shorter sessions can be modified
to fit into treatment and mental health settings or in individual sessions
with patients.
The Musical Journey accompanying deep breathing during a breathwork session is
taught to our trainees so they can become familiar with how musical vibrations
and frequency bands, rhythm, pitch, and melody lines affect the psyche.
Focused bodywork designed solely for Integrative Breathwork purposes accompanies
the breathwork training.
Following are more of the psychospiritual transformational methods taught and
practiced:
- Meditation
- Guided Imagery
- Invocation/Evocation
- The Power of Focused Spiritual Intention
- Accessing the Archetypal Dimension
- Subpersonality Work
- Symbolic Artwork
- The Power of "Divine Indifference"
- Radical Self-Observation, or "Seeing Double"
- Third Stage Recovery
- Keeping a Little Book and a Big Book as Journals
- Honoring the Closing of the Day
- Communicating with the Soul's Language of Symbols
- The Science of the Soul: Experiment, Experience, Expression

WHAT DOES YOUR CERTIFICATION
MEAN?
Graduates will receive a certificate that reads: "Certified in
Integrative Breathwork and Psychospiritual Integration." Eupsychia's
goal of certification is authentic Self-empowerment for its practitioners.
Our students are empowered to practice their own unique brand of the
Eupsychia Process within their particular sphere of influence and areas
of interest. This is being-level training that advances its practitioners' level
of consciousness and psychospiritual health. It is not based in academic
knowledge, though certain mental frameworks and experiential knowledge
are learned, gained from one's own discovery.

CONTINUING
EDUCATION CREDIT
This certification program does not replace the need for licensure in
any state. However, Eupsychia is certified to give Continuing Education
Credit to Substance Abuse Counselors (PN 0331-89), Social Workers (PN
CS1260), Marriage and Family Therapists (PN 665), Licensed Professional
Counselors (PN 318) and Psychologists in the state of Texas. If you need
such credit, be sure and check with your state licensing board(s) to
determine if Texas has reciprocity.
For those interested in applying for certification, a more detailed
description of this training program will be sent to you along with an
application. Please let
Brenda know, and she will send you the information.
